Monitoring / Inspections / Service / Repairs

You should have a Monitoring Agreement because:

  • The laws of the county health department, public works department, city or other septic permitting agency in your area may REQUIRE that your aerobic septic system be monitored by a company such as ours on a regular basis. This monitoring involves a written agreement between the homeowner and the monitoring company. This agreement and subsequent written inspection reports are filed with the agency.
  • Even if a monitoring agreement is not required by law for your aerobic septic system, regular inspections by a licensed professional will help protect the health of you and your family. If your system is not working properly you could be exposed to infectious bacteria that can cause illness and/or disease.
  • Regular monitoring of your aerobic septic system by a licensed professional can prevent a small problem, which if detected early might be repaired for a nominal charge, from becoming a major, very expensive emergency.
  • If you have a monitoring agreement with a licensed, professional maintenance provider, he will know you, your family’s lifestyle and the history of your particular aerobic septic system, and can hit the ground running if there is a problem with your system.

Questions to Ask your Potential “Maintenance Provider”

  • Perry with Aerobic Septic Service CompanyAlthough company licenses/registrations are not necessarily required by the State of Texas, the company you deal with should have a state-licensed Maintenance Provider on staff and state-registered technicians. You can check out all licenses and registrations on the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality web site: www.tceq.state.tx.us (TCEQ)
  • Does the company have office personnel to answer your calls? You want a company with good record keeping and consistent organization so you will know that someone will be available within a reasonable amount of time in case you need service or have a question. If the company has a fax line, e-mail and a web site, that will give you additional ways to communicate with their personnel.
  • Is the maintenance provider certified by the manufacturer of your brand of aerobic septic system? This is no longer a state requirement, however, it makes good sense to hire someone to maintain your aerobic septic system that has the knowledge and skills required to be manufacturer certified. Ask to see the manufacturer’s certification document, or call your system’s manufacturer. Click Here for a list of Manufacturers.
  • How long has a company been in business? These innovative, advanced aerobic septic systems require experienced and qualified technicians to service and monitor them.
  • Be sure and check out your potential septic company at the Better Business Bureau web site. For the counties of Tarrant, Johnson, Hood, Parker and Wise, the Better Business Bureau web site is: www.fortworth.bbb.org. For Denton County, use www.fortworth.bbb.org or www.dallas.bbb.org. For the Greater Houston and South Texas areas, the web site is: www.houston.bbb.org.
  • Does the company stock an inventory of repair parts and components for your aerobic system? Or do they always have to order parts?
  • Do the technicians have uniform shirts when they come onto your property?
  • If it is necessary, will the company call the property owner before coming onto the property?
  • Does the company provide you a copy of each inspection report?
  • Does the company place the state-required weather-resistant tag on the systems that they inspect and date it each time they are on your property?
  • Does the company provide you with an agreement/contract clarifying the obligations of the maintenance provider and the property owner?
